Guy Leclair...
Guy Leclair enjoys outdoor landscape painting in oils,
even in winter. He has been painting "plein air"
for approximately twenty years, more intensely since
his retirement as Director of Welding Engineering Development
at Foster Wheeler in the fall of 1991.
Guy
joined the Rochester Art Club in 1992 by juried admission,
the Batavia Society of Artists, and the Penfield Art
Association in 1993. He has won numerous awards, including
"Best in Show" with all three groups. In 1997
he was also accepted by jury in the North Shore Art
Association in Gloucester, MA. He has exhibited with
the Genesee Valley Council on the arts' Mini-Galleries,
the Bert Lederer Gallery, both in Livingston County;
the All Weather Gang in Perry and Rochester, and also
with the Plein Air Painters of Western New York. Most
recently he has exhibited at the Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville,
VT. In 2002 and 2005, he had one-person shows at the
SUNY/Lockhart Gallery in Geneseo, and was a guest artists
at the International Painting Symposium in Chicoutimi,
Qc. In the summer of 2002.
In
January 2005, he was accepted as a permanent exhibitor
of landscape painting at the Delaware River Gallery
in Yardley, PA.
Guy
studied under Leonard Stankunas in Pennsylvania, the
late John Peisley of Pavilion at SUNY Geneseo, and Fred
Lipp at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester NY. Since
1987 he has taken several outdoor painting workshops
(a total of 8) from the internationally known Massachusetts
artist Charles Movalli and also with Don Stone, NA and
AWS, of Monhegan Island, ME.
Guy
enjoys painting the local scenery in Western New York,
and winter landscapes on location in Charlevoix, Quebec.
In the past 10 years he has taken painting trips with
fellow painters to the Bahamas, Canada, England and
France.
He
finds excitement in plein air painting hoping to capture,
in a brief moment in time, and artistic "impression"
of the beauty of nature. In addition to good design,
he seeks out patterns of "lights and darks",
"warm and cool" colors and their compliments,
for maximum impact and harmony.
Guy
resides in Geneseo, NY with his wife Aline - a fiber
art enthusiast. |
